BOOTED!

  • Links

NEWS: This links page really needs updating so some of the info isn't accurate, some of the links are dead and some of the best bootleggers are missing. Sorry - I'll sort it when I get a chance. For now please drop me a line if I need to update your entry or add you to the list.

Don't go fooling yourself into thinking I'm the only dude who's playing this game - there's a wide selection of other people with too much time on their hands. Why not sample some fine links (and if you feel you've been overlooked then drop me an email on seej@cjtonline.net).

  • McSleazyBootlegs.com - Go see what Grant's been doing boot-wise, and don't forget to stop by the forum; you'll find all the cool kids (and me) hanging out there.

  • Churchill's Corner - Churchy's the biggest fan of boots that I know; he runs a fantastic radio show about them on Radio Freedom (where he quite often plays exclusives from various luminaries of the scene), he's far and away the most frequent poster on the McSleazy Message Board, and he's pretty damn good at putting his own tracks together too. Just don't tell him I said that.

  • IDC - IDC. Take note everyone else; IDC checked my links page and noticed that I'd been too drunk to bother writing a decent description for his link, so he sent me a CD! You all could learn a lot from him. And not just about self promotion either, cos he's pretty damn excellent at this whole bootleg nonsense - check out U Know Y London Burns in particular, but I don't think there's anything he's done that you won't dig big-time.

  • BastardPop.co.uk - Tunes to download and commentary on the scene.

  • Culture Deluxe - BWAA-HA-HA-HAAAAAA! I sucked Richie back into the world of bootlegs (thanks to Chocolategirl for supplying the mobile number), and he sinks so wholeheartedly back into things that he totally overhauls Excalibur Music Store and gives us a rather fantastic new version called Culture Deluxe. Like EMS, only better. And partially my fault :) .

  • Boot106.co.uk - Sleazyboy's new site, with an excellent magazine format, stuff about the scene, interviews, charts and more.

  • Go Home Productions - Mark GHP is a freak. He releases a new boot about once a week or something, and is so obsessed with the scene that he's posted to the GYBO board via laptop from a strip club. Mmmmm hmmmm - most of us could find something more interesting to focus on, but GHP is truly dedicated.

  • TD Productions - Turkey and Danger (I swear I'm not making this up - their choice of names) have cranked out a fair few boots recently, but I think they've retired. Worth a try, just in case they forgot to switch the server off......

  • Oorsmeer - Oorsmeer is like the late lamented Boomselection, only in Belgian. But aside from the language difficulties it's pretty neat (with regular downloads). Which brings us to.....

  • Magic Cornflake - Dude who runs Oorsmeer. Check out his fully Wrong and Bad Leanne Rhymes boot. Or, on second thoughts, don't.

  • Osymyso - 0ZZY R00L5!!! *ahem*, but seriously, Osymyso is pretty damn cool. So cool that he and Cartel Communique have been getting work on the Sara Cox show Born Sloppy (for my money their bits are the highlight of an otherwise sub-Word quality show).

  • Cartel Communique - Cartel Mike is mates with Osymyso, and they work together on the Born Sloppy bits. And they're regulars at the night know as Bastard down in London Village. Must .... get .... Northern .... equivalent .... going .... and .... book .... Cartel ....

  • SCO Network - Still not sure if this is pronounced 'Sko Network' or 'Ess See Oh Network'. But they're good at doing boots (and strangely affiliated with Grandad and Junkie Elvis), so I don't really care.

  • Dsico - Wow; Australia has given us not one but two fine lagers (Fosters and XXXX), Kylie Minogue, Holly Valance, novel ideas for barbecue-cooking (shrimps? Crazy!), and now it's given us a top talent in bootleg remixes. Dsico (pronounced Duh-Sicko, so he tells me) is great, and I think his glitch mix F*ckin' Girlfriend was my favourite track of 2002.

  • Frenchbloke - Actually from Scotland (well, if you believe him he's based in a subterranean bunker under the North Sea, but I'm pretty sure he's lying), and good at booting, though seems to enjoy playing Devil's Advocate for the scene (i.e. he says everything's sh*t). Tried to go cold turkey on GYBO - lasted almost a fortnight :P.

  • Soundhog - You know that feeling when other people make you want to be better at what you do than you currently are? I get it when I listen to Soundhog - he's pretty damn good at what he does (gets radio play and everything).

  • Bumtschak - I take back every German joke I ever made, cos Bumtschak is really good at boots. Especially the mellower ones. As they say in Germany, 'Est muay bueno'.

  • Eve Massacre - Holeeeee Sh*t! A girl who makes boots! Yup, she's sadly a rarity in this scene (c'mon Lisa; send me an email and let me know you're still out there), but that's not to say she's rubbish. Far from it; lots of original ideas and a tendency to push the envelope. Popular cos she's good, not cos she's a female.

  • Gordy Boy - More boots, and he's pretty good at them too. A regular on GYBO, and oddly he uses a pic of Gordon Brown as his avatar. Maybe he is Gordon Brown......

  • Steve JHC - That's Steve Jesus H Christ. He says that people say that a lot when he plays them his tracks. Anyway, a good bloke, and he's just moved to Nottingham so please take pity on him being away from the bright lights of London.

  • Boomselection - Aaaah, the site which got a bunch of us into this game in the first place. Used to be essential daily reading, but sadly after a total lack of updates for ages Mannion (one of the guys who's responsible for it, though The_Dr [Missing In Action] is really the guy with the controls) put in a final blog entry at the end of 2002 to declare the site dead. Sad but true, but the archive is still up there and should make interesting reading from a historical POV, plus I'll bet a lot of the links still work (i.e. you can still find some of the older tracks via the site).
